Freedom from the known can come into being only when there is a dying every day to the known, to the hurts, the flatteries, to all the images you have made, to all your experiences – dying every day so that the brain cells themselves become fresh, young, innocent.”
We carry with us an accumulation of memories, experiences, hurts, pleasures, successes, disappointments, beliefs, and images of ourselves and others. Do we see that we are incessantly protecting, reinforcing and adding to what is already known and that it is through this lens that we meet the present? Can we see another person without the image we have created of them? Can we experience ourselves without relying on the story we have accumulated about who we are? Is it possible to encounter life, moment to moment, with a freshness and innocence?
