Pepper Tree Retreat
Pepper Tree Retreat is located on the campus of the Krishnamurti Center in Ojai. This former house of Krishnamurti was previously referred to as Arya Vihara. During his 64 years in Ojai, Krishnamurti welcomed thousands of visitors from around the world who were challenged by his penetrating inquiries into the fundamental questions of life.
Today, the Krishnamurti Foundation of America (KFA) continues to operate this retreat for the study of the teachings of J.Krishnamurti. The retreat is available to anybody who wants to retreat from daily life, to reflect and connect with nature.
The original two buildings on the property, Pine Cottage and Arya Vihara, have been designated historic structures by the Ventura County Historic Preservation Commission. These two buildings were constructed in 1895 and 1910 respectively, but gained historic significance as the home of Krishnamurti and a center for the study of his teachings.
